In addition to the upcoming sand volleyball tournament at the Rock on September 12, local friends have set up two more fundraisers to help out Project 16:49.
Sunday, September 6: The Second Annual Helping the Homeless of Janesville fundraiser
From 12 to 7 PM at 604 N. Adams, Janesville, WI
Last year, Tom Hathaway (a Janesville mail carrier) converted his Labor Day weekend block party into an open-to-the-community event (still held in his back yard!) to benefit homeless-serving agencies, including Project 16:49. We received a financial donation from the proceeds of the event, plus he publicizes agency wish lists for people to bring items or drop them off in advance. Director Tammy DeGarmo’s Accord was jam-packed with school, hygiene, and cleaning supplies.
This year’s event will benefit RVCP Homeless Veterans as well as ECHO, Project 16:49, GIFTS Men’s Shelter, HealthNet of Rock County and House of Mercy. The event features guest speakers, music, a silent auction, and food vendors, with beer and wine available.
Friday, October 2: Trivia Night Benefit for Project 16:49
Doors open at 5:15 PM at the Bethel Baptist Church, Janesville, WI
Teams of up to 10 people can enter this trivia competition, and all attendees can join the silent auction as well. This should be a lot of fun, and it all goes to a great cause too!
