All proceeds from the Car Auction with benefit Project 16:49!  The drawing is coming up on the 18th and less than 1000 have been sold!  Here’s a great chance to win a piece of automobile history!

A wonderful local resident named Gary Schultz has offered up an antique car for us to raffle off to support Project 16:49′s fundraising efforts. It’s an absolutely gorgeous Chevy hot rod that looks brand-new. It’s valued at $39,000, and tickets are only $100 each. The drawing will be held September 18, 2011 at 3:00pm at the 35th Annual Beloit Autorama. This event will be held at Preservation Park, 3444 South Riverside Drive, Beloit, WI, but the winner need not be present to win!

Tickets are available at:

As Mr. Schultz reports about his generous gift:

Chevrolet 3 Window Coupe. This unbelievable piece of history was featured in Hot Rod Magazine in 1960 as the “1931 Corvette”. A total survivor, it is to this day almost exactly the way it was featured in that issue 50 years ago and has been in the same family since! Three years ago the car was completely dismantled, inspected, and rebuilt. All mechanicals, including the engine were addressed and freshened as necessary. The body was completely stripped and repainted (only the 3rd time ever) in Glasurit base/clear urethane.

The body is, of course, all steel with a 3″ chopped top, Corvette taillights are masterfully leaded in, and it still retains the unique and functional roll up windshield and roll down rear window! Engine is a 1957 Corvette 283/270hp with original dual quads and a Duntov cam backed by a Borg Warner 4-speed and ’57 Corvette rear end. The interior is circa 1957 and features early Corvette instrumentation and shifter.

This car is an absolute time capsule with so many original parts and vintage details that you need to see it in person to absorb and appreciate it. Not a rat rod, not a resto-mod, not an attempt at “old school”, but a real authentic surviving street rod!
